The country’s third international seaport pigeon was launched on the banks of river Ramnabad. People living in the middle of the country, living in farm income, have heard stories of seaports and industrialization, but they are now dreaming of urban life like Singapore. But due to the delay of dredging (dredging) work, the dreams surrounding the pigeon harbor were getting feared.

Recently the meeting of the Ministry of Shipping, under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, was held in the meeting. Shipping Ministry Secretary Ashok Madhav Roy said, the progress of the dredging of the port is very slow. There will be more zealous and active in this regard.

According to the Ministry sources, on 25 May last year, the Paira Port Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Belgian firm Jan De Null to dredge the maintenance of the main channel of Piara port. But a year could not end the deal but the Port Authority could not finish the deal

When asked about the matter, Chairman of Paira Port Authority, Commodore Jahangir Alam told Jago, “After the MoU, they gave us financial and technical proposals. Assessment of these are going on.

He said many ministries involved in any major project. Only dredging is about 4 billion taka. The ministry has to get approval for these works. Every ministry has to pass a work that means the file goes up 15-20 days to go up and down. There are four or five ministries, including the Ministry of Law, Ministry of Finance, ERD. We are running from ministry to ministry to speed up the work of dredging.

‘Since the project is very big, the amount is much more. So from where the money comes, each kind of questions are asked. We have to answer these questions. ‘

We hope that in the next two years we will be able to complete the necessary dredging work, “he added.

On 13th August, 2016, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the commercial operation of the commercial garbage as the third commercial seaport of Bangladesh.

The construction of pigeon seaport is one of the 10 major projects of special priority for the government. On 18 November 2013, the activities of establishing this port on 16 acre land were started. The place is located at the Tekkhali union of Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali, on the west bank of Ramnabad river. By 2030, the goal of building the port will be fully completed. The work will be completed in three phases. For this, the estimated expenditure has been estimated to be 1,100-1.5 billion US dollars.

Local entrepreneurs are hoping to announce the construction of pigeon harbor for the development of the southwestern region. Mongla, another seaport in the region, could not create a strong position at any time. In particular, Mongla lost the confidence of business day after day due to the presence of Sundarbans with two rivers in the main channel of Mongla and lagging behind with Dhaka.

The confidence surrounding the third seaport pigeon rose again. In the Sunderbans area, the environment department has to face obstacles in setting up power plants or other industries. Meanwhile, criticism and movement started around the construction of Rampal power project. But there is no crisis in the Patuakhali footwear. However, the main obstacle of this port and the biggest obstacle has been the dredging of 25 nautical miles.

The concerned people are already working on the construction of a coal-powered power station of Bangladesh-China Power Company Limited at 1,320 MW. The power plant will be in production in 2019. Apart from this, there is a plan to construct 1,320 megawatt power plant in Ashuganj Power Station, Rural Power Company Limited and Bangladesh Army separately. In addition to acquiring land of companies, efforts are being made to sign a memorandum of understanding with joint investors.

Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Bangladesh oil, gas and mineral resources corporation – Petrobangla LNG terminal are planning to set up Purebangla port terminal. Besides, some foreign companies have been discussing with the government to build LNG (Liquefied natural gas) terminals using the possibility of ports. But all the initiatives will fail if the pigeon dredging work is not done at the time.

Investors said, we wanted the port authorities to confirm the dredging work within the specified time. But the port authorities can not afford it. They say that we have made the project in hopes of dredging, but the work of dredging has not started. In that case, the investment will also be stagnant.

If the port is not dredging, the coal will be brought to power plants in the lighter vessel. This will cost extra to the coal transport. As a result, the cost of electricity will be higher. To set up the LNG terminal, at least 15 meter drafts will have to ride on the ship (depth of the water depth of the vessel). Although the work is done with lighter for coal, it is not possible for LNG. In this case, to bring ships to the terminal directly. The alternative is to build pipelines through the sea. This is very expensive. The cost of the project will be increased due to the high cost, investors will lose interest too.

The concerned people say that at least 100 million to build pipelines through the sea
