The vice-chancellor has been accused of violation of the law by excluding the decision taken by the Senate. The complaint was made in a statement signed by the 33 Senate members of the University on Tuesday.
It is said in the statement that the Senate members of the DUC was surprised to see the Vice Chancellery appointment on September 4. On July 29, a writ petition related to the three-member panel by the Senate is pending in court and the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. The High Court has decided that AAMS Arefin Siddique will remain in the post. In the meantime, the government appointed as a vice-chancellor (outside the three-member panel), which is embarrassing for the High Court and the DU
It is further stated in the statement that clear violation of the Dhaka University Order-1973 on the appointment of a Vice-Chancellor by rejecting the decision taken by the Senate. Through this, the path of a multi-pronged conspiracy to break the autonomy of the Dhaka University and the senate of the University has been facilitated.
It is also said in this statement that the best gift of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be run by the ‘Dhaka University Order-1973’. To uphold its dignity, it is the moral and legal responsibility of everyone.
It is to be noted that on Monday (September 4th), an executive order of Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman was appointed as vice-chancellor and the president of the university chancellor Abdul Hamid Present Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique expired on August 23.
