Two buses from Dhaka are on the way to Kathmandu

Two buses from Bangladesh have been piloted for the Nepalese capital Kathmandu. The buses of Shyamoli NR Paribahan leave from BRTC International Bus Terminal at Kamalapur on Monday morning. This experimental journey aimed at direct road communication with Nepal.

Road Transport and Highway Division sources said, 44 representatives of the BRTC led by the chairman are going to Kathmandu. Among them there are 25 ministers from different ministries and agencies, 11 from India, six Nepalese Nepalese and two of the Asian Development Bank.

An agreement was reached in Thimphu in 2015 for buses in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal. It is uncertain when the Bhutan withdrew from the deal. Later, instead of Bhutan, steps were taken to start passenger buses among the remaining three countries. It will be the signing of the Transport Protocol on April 27 in Kathmandu. But due to the lack of preparation of all the countries it is unlikely to be possible.
