The second submarine cable is going on Sunday.

The much-awaited second submarine cable is being launched on Sunday (September 10). On that day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the second submarine cable ‘C-Mi-We-5’ through video conferencing from Ganobhaban. State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim will be present at the time.

Managing Director of Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) Monwar Hossain told the Bangla Tribune that all preparations have been prepared for the inauguration of the second submarine cable on September 10.

During the inauguration, he will be present at the landing station of the second submarine cable at Kuakata. He said, “Secretary of the Postal and Telecommunication Department Shyam Sunder Sikder will also be present there. From the opening day, we get 200 Gbps (gb per second) bandwidth. In phases, it will be upgraded to 1,500 Gbps.

Md. Monowar Hossain also said, “C-Mi-We-5 Consortium is giving us 50000 GBPSE bandwidths. But how much is needed in our market, how much we need to know before. If there is no bandwidth demand in the market then what will we do with more?

Earlier, the Consortium was inaugurated in Istanbul on 21 February in Istanbul. The C-Mi-Vi5 project was inaugurated on 16 January in Honolulu, Hawaii, 20 thousand kilometers long and 24 terabytes per second (TB / S) speed. The consortium has 17 countries, including Bangladesh and the total number of landing points for this cable is 18.

In fact, ‘C-Mi-We-5’ is a short version of Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe-5. The consortium includes Malaysians, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Djibouti, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Italy, and France.
